Coach Groppuso is entering his 5th season as Head Coach of the Tigers (67-35) and 6th overall (82-41).
Coach Groppuso is a 1988 Kingston graduate. He was a 3 year starter at the Varsity level and lettered in 3 sports (Baseball, Basketball, Football). The '88 Tigers who won the Section IX Championship that year, was the first team to advance to the State-Quarter final game in school history and still holds the the record for consecutive wins (20) and overall record (20-2). That same year his American Legion Post 150 team became the only team to date to play in the American Legion World Series.
He went on to play college ball in the Big East at Seton Hall University. He finished his career ranked 2nd All time in home runs and 7th in RBI's. He was All Big East in 1990 and a Baseball America Pre-Season All American in 1991. He played his summer ball in Alaska and the Cape Cod League where he ended up the Orleans Cardinals MVP and on the final All Cape Team. He then signed with the Houston Astros in the 1st Round of the '91 draft.
Professional he played almost 10 years of pro baseball. He played for the Houston Astros, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres (Mexico). During his minor league career he won 2 Championships, was a AA All-star, and played in the Arizona Fall League.
He currently lives in Kingston and teaches Physical Education in the KCSD. He his married and has two boys Donte (6) and Gavin (3),
